Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the apparent drowning of a child found at 12801 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) service road about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday (March 23).
The identity of the female victim, 8, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Castillo and J. Diaz reported:
The victim was swimming with other family members in a lazy river style swimming pool at the hotel at the above address. Officers responded to the location after the child was reported missing about 5:45 p.m. She was later found inside a large pipe in the pool area and pronounced deceased by paramedics.
The investigation is continuing.
