Houston police are investigating the assault of a man at 40 Berry Road about 2:45 p.m. on Thursday (May 7).
The victim, Ruben Duarte, 45, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer L. Bolmanski reported:
Mr. Duarte was working on a vehicle at his auto shop at the above address when two male suspects approached the shop and attempted to steal a vehicle. When Duarte confronted the suspects. a third male suspect approached him. A struggle ensued and one of the suspects struck Duarte several times in the head with a blunt object, possibly a crow bar.
All three suspects then fled the scene in a tan 2005 Volkswagen four-door sedan with paper plates. The vehicle was driven by a female. Paramedics arrived and transported Duarte to the hospital.
