The City Hall Local Lunch Market returns for the fall starting Wednesday, Sept. 25, offering the public a variety of prepared, ready to eat foods. New this season is locally produced art for sale on site.
The market takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday to Dec 18 in Hermann Square at City Hall, 901 Bagby St.
“The best place to pick up a freshly prepared lunch or take-home edibles is outdoors in the heart of the nation’s most diverse city, because the market’s variety reflects Houston’s culinary, cultural and commercial connections to many corners of the world,” Mayor Sylvester Turner said.
“This beloved lunchtime series offers Houstonians a relaxing respite to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by local chefs, great music by local musicians and now, art by local artists,” stated Susan Christian, director of the Mayor’s Office of Special Events. “An estimated 1,500 guests attend the weekly series and lifts up Houston’s vibrant food scene and dynamic performing and visual artists.”
People are encouraged to walk, take Metro’s free Greenlink (the downtown shuttle) or ride a bike via Houston Bike Share to the City Hall Local Lunch Market. Garage parking is located at 400 Rusk for a fee.
