Houston Fire Department to Canvass Area of Recent Tragic Fire

WHAT: Houston Firefighters will walk the neighborhood of recent tragic fire with safety literature and talk with residents about the importance of working smoke detectors, home escape plans and fire prevention.

WHEN: Tuesday, February 6, 2024, starting at 11 a.m.

WHERE: Near the 200 block of Heaney Dr. 77076.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, firefighters arrived on scene to find a house heavily involved in fire. A 31-year-old woman had rescued her 9-year-old son and 6 year-old daughter and went back to rescue her 1-year-old child. The mother and youngest child were found deceased inside the home by firefighters. The cause of this fire is currently under investigation.
