WHAT: House Fire

INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $112,941 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $45,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (Heat source too close to combustibles).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find fire and smoke coming from the corner of the garage area of a 1-story home. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. The garage was ventilated, and the fire was controlled within in 15 minutes. It was contained to the garage area with minor heat damage to the exterior eves and no extension into the home. A barbeque pit had been left burning near the garage and the heat/smoke traveled up and ignited the shingles. The American Red Cross was requested to assist the family. Firefighters from Stations 23, 21, 46, 24, 35 and 55 responded to this incident.
