WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: October 22, 2023, at 3:43 p.m.
WHERE: 5600 block of Lakefield Dr. 77033.
INJURIES: One firefighter injured shoulder and transported to the hospital.
PROPERTY SAVED: $160,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $30,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDTIONAL DETAILS: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find grass burning in a backyard and spreading to a home. They made an offensive attack and ventilated the house. A firefighter fell partially through the roof and was able to pull himself out. He was transported to the hospital for an injury to his shoulder. A primary search was completed, and the fire was controlled. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 37 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including crews from Stations 35, 36, 23, 26, 46, 55 and 24.
