House Fire in The South Belt / Ellington Area

WHAT: House fire.

WHEN: September 9, 2023, at 9:51 a.m.

WHERE: 300 block of Cobbleton Dr. 77034.

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

DAMAGE: $250,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (electrical/mechanical fault).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the garage area of a house and made an offensive attack. The utilities were secured, and the residents were accounted for. Crews had a difficult time getting into the attic area where the fire had spread, however were able to gain access and fully extinguish the fire. After HFD Arson investigators concluded their on-scene investigation, firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul. The owner was advised to leave the power and gas off until it could be inspected and repaired. 49 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 93, 23, 70, 71, 52, 61, 72, 94, 37, 24, Rescue 42 and Rehab 17.
