WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: August 28, 2023, at 7:47 p.m.
WHERE: 900 block of E. Tidwell Rd. 77076.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $250,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke coming from a large 1-story house that appeared to have been converted for commercial use. They opened an access gate and began an attack on the fire. A primary search was conducted, and the building was ventilated. Smoke conditions worsened and fire ventilated through the roof with a partial collapse. All firefighters were evacuated, and they changed to a defensive attack. The fire was extinguished and once it was deemed safe, crews re-entered the building to complete extinguishment efforts and conduct another search. The fire was controlled, and no victims were found. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 60 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including crews from Stations 34, 67, 17, 15, 6, 31, 12, 30, 58, 56, Heavy Rescue 11 and Rehab 8.
