WHAT: House Fire.
WHEN: August 10, 2022 at 7:22 p.m.
WHERE: 1200 block of King St. 77022.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $165,723 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $40,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Act of Nature.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find smoke coming from a 1-story house with natural gas leaking from the gas meter. They turned the gas off and made an attack on the fire in the attic. The home was ventilated, and a primary search was completed. The crews extinguished the fire which started behind the stove from a possibly lightning strike or gas leak. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the exact cause. Firefighters from Stations 2, 19, 39, 34 and 30 responded to this incident.
