WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: July 8, 2024, at 5:15 a.m.
WHERE: 8100 block of Bendell Dr. 77017.
INJURIES: One civilian was transported to the hospital and passed away.

CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental due to an unspecified electrical malfunction.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from the attic of a 1-story house. A victim was found and rescued by the crews of Engine 29 and Ladder 29, with the assistance of the engineer operator of Ladder 26 who cut the side of the house open for them to remove her from the home. She was transported to the hospital and sadly, passed away. Firefighters made an attack on the fire and quickly controlled and extinguished it. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 27 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 36, 23, 20, 26, 29, 52, 24 and Rescue 42.
