WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: January 15, 2024, at 12:19 p.m.
WHERE: 4200 block of Europa St. 77022.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $55,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $120,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find heavy smoke coming from a 1-story house. Everyone was safely out of the home except for two dogs. The crews made an offensive attack and ventilated the roof. A primary search was completed with the two dogs found. Firefighters attempted to unsuccessfully revive them. Once the fire was extinguished it was determined that the fire started in the attic above the microwave. CenterPoint responded to secure the utilities. 35 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 17, 15, 31, 34, 12, 30, 67 and 43.
