WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: September 2, 2024, at 1:02 p.m.
WHERE: 5500 block of Huisache St. 77081.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $312,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $30,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (abandoned or discarded materials or products).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the back of a 1-story house and made an offensive attack. An exterior porch was found burning with extension to a nearby wall. The occupants had safely exited the home prior to HFDs arrival. The fire was fully extinguished, and it was determined that the fire was caused by discarded smoking materials. 34 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 51, 82 and 28.
