WHAT: House Fire.
WHEN: August 23, 2022 at 6:20 p.m.
WHERE: 3500 block of Elgin St. 77004.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $178,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $35,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find heavy smoke coming from a 1-story house. The home appeared to be unoccupied with the openings covered with plywood and burglar bars. Crews made an attack on the fire and made entry to complete extinguishment. The roof was ventilated, and a primary search was conducted. The fire was extinguished and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. Firefighters from Stations 25, 18, 17, 23, 8, 7, 24 and Rehab 8 responded to this incident.
