House Fire in The Greater OST / South Union Area

 

WHAT: House Fire

WHEN: March 24, 2022 at 9:47 p.m.

WHERE: 3700 block of Cosby, 77021

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: $91,263 in estimated property saved *from first incident, not available for second incident.

DAMAGE: $35,000 in estimated damage *from first incident, not available for second incident.

CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source (first incident)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within 3 minutes to find smoke coming from the door and eaves of a 1-story house, with two people exiting the front porch. Crews made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. Fans were used to ventilate the home and the fire was extinguished. The occupant reported seeing smoke from the dryer prior to calling the fire department and this appeared to be the origin. Just before 7 a.m. the following morning, firefighters responded to another fire at the same location and extinguished it within about 15 minutes. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause of this second fire. Crews from stations 46, 25, 23, 35, 40, 33 and 24 responded to these incidents.
