WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: November 23, 2023, at 1:02 p.m.
WHERE: 6000 block of Beekman Rd. 77021.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $12,400 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $95,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (gas heater).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find heavy fire coming from a 1-story house and made an offensive attack. Crews were advised to avoid roof ventilation due to missing shingles and a partial collapse of an attached carport. They removed the burglar bars from the windows. Two people were reported to be inside, and a primary and secondary search were completed with no one found. The firefighters controlled the fire and extinguished hotspots. The occupants had used a gas generator with a large natural gas heater. CenterPoint was requested to secure the gas line. 40 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 35, 23, 26, 46, 18, 25, 55, 37, 24 and Rescue 42.
