WHAT: House Fire
WHEN: February 19, 2022 at 2:43 a.m.
WHERE: 1500 block of W. 21st, 77008
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $250 thousand in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $100 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (fire pit)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find heavy fire and smoke coming from a 1-story house. They made an offensive attack and ventilated the home. A primary search was completed, and the fire was extinguished. A pet was found and removed from the home after a secondary search. Crews attempted to revive the dog, however, were not successful. CenterPoint was requested to control the utilities and firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul. The fire began near an active fire pit and the flames spread to the interior and attic. Crews from Stations 2, 15, 6, 31, 11, 13, 62, 30 and Heavy Rescue 11 responded to this incident.
