DAMAGE: $13,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke coming from a 1-story house and made an offensive attack through the front door. They quickly controlled a fire in a bedroom and secured the utilities. An extension cord with multiple items plugged into it appeared to have overheated and caught nearby items on fire. The resident had electrical issues before the fire started and was advised to leave the power off until it could be properly inspected by a certified electrician. CenterPoint was also requested to respond. Firefighters from Stations 34, 15, 31, 12, 30, 32 and 56 responded to this incident.
