WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: May 17, 2024, at 12:13 a.m.
WHERE: 8000 block of West St. 77093.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.

DAMAGE: $170,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (improper use of portable generator).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene with heavy fire coming from the side of a 1-story house and made an offensive attack. The nearby exposures were protected, and the structure was ventilated. All crews were ordered to evacuate after conditions failed to improve and made a defensive attack. Once the fire was under control, firefighters switched back to an offensive strategy and extinguished the fire. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 35 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 34, 15, 31, 19, 39, 58, 30 and Rehab 17.
