WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: July 23, 2023, at 11:54 p.m.
WHERE: 1700 block of Deams St. 77093.
INJURIES: One firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital.
PROPERTY SAVED: $150,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $610,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire and smoke coming from a 1-story house and made an offensive attack. They switched to a defensive attack due to the conditions of the home. The fire was controlled and allowed crews to go back to an offensive mode to complete extinguishment. A primary search was conducted with no one found. One firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital. The house was vacant and had burned before. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 40 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including crews from Stations 34, 15, 31, 12, 30, 39, 56, 58 and Rehab 17.
