House Fire in the East Little York / Homestead Area, One Civilian Fatality

WHAT: House Fire

WHEN: April 3, 2022 at 10:41 a.m.

WHERE: 11400 block of Lemond, 77016

INJURIES: One civilian fatality, one civilian injuried.

PROPERTY SAVED: $120,000 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $65,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Under investigation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find fire coming from the side of a home with a report of people trapped. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. The home was ventilated, and a resident was found and removed from the house to waiting HFD EMS crews who transported her to the hospital where she unfortunately passed away. A second resident had been removed by bystanders prior to HFDs arrival and was also transported to the hospital by HFD EMS. The American Red Cross was notified, and the utility companies were requested. The fire was controlled within 20 minutes and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. Crews from Stations 56, 32, 43, 34, 45, 27, 30, 15 and Rehab 17 responded to this incident.
