WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: May 17, 2023 at 10:56 p.m.
WHERE: 1100 block of Defender St. 77029.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.

DAMAGE: $60,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find heavy fire coming through the roof of a 1-story residential building that appeared to be vacant. A defensive attack was made, and crews protected the nearby structures. The occupants were also evacuated. The fire was extinguished and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 38 HFD personnel responded to this incident, including those from Stations 41, 23, 20, 45, 42, 44, 30 and Rescue 42.
