House Fire in The Central Southwest Area

WHAT: House fire.

WHEN: July 8, 2024, at 10:53 a.m.

WHERE: 4000 block of Darlinghurst Dr. 77045.

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: $30,300 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $289,700 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Unintentional (electrical).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a 1-story house, with the fire being driven by the hurricane conditions. They made an attack on the fire and conducted a primary search of the home. Once the fire was fully extinguished, crews marked and cordoned off the home due to an energized powerline. A tree branch had fallen on the powerline, causing it to land on the home and catch fire. In addition to the house on which the powerline fell, a nearby home had fire damage to one side.  33 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 2, 23, 21, 59, 25, 33, 47, 55 and 24.
