House Fire in The Central Southwest Area

WHAT: House fire.

WHEN: June 13, 2024, at 9:50 p.m.

WHERE: 3800 block of Belgrade Dr. 77045.

INJURIES: One off-duty Constable was transported to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation and one firefighter was transported to the hospital for possible heat exhaustion.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

DAMAGE: $215,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Under investigation (appears to be accidental).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming through the roof of a 1-story house and declared an offensive attack. An off-duty constable was found outside the house with possible smoke inhalation while attempting to rescue her neighbor. She was transported to the hospital by HFD EMS.

A primary search was completed, and the crews protected the nearby structures. The utilities were secured and after conditions worsened, firefighters switched to a defensive attack. The fire was extinguished and CenterPoint and HFD Arson investigators were requested. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for evaluation due to possible heat exhaustion. 53 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 51, 82, 2, 21, 59, 47, 80, 31, 24, 8 and Rescue 10.
