WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: August 20, 2024, at 4:06 p.m.
WHERE: 10100 block of Thurleigh, 77031.
INJURIES: Four firefighters treated on scene for heat exhaustion / dehydration.
PROPERTY SAVED: $450,000 in estimated property/content saved.
DAMAGE: $200,000 in estimated property/content damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (due to individual burning tree limbs).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from a house and made an offensive attack. The attic was heavily involved with fire, burning through the side of the home. A primary search was attempted, with conditions inside hindering the search efforts. Additional units were requested, and firefighters switched to a defensive attack. They also protected a nearby warehouse that suffered damage to its a/c units and wiring. CenterPoint was notified to secure the utilities. Rehab was established as crews rotated to fully extinguish the fire. Four firefighters were treated on scene for heat exhaustion and possible dehydration. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 85 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 73, 82, 2, 21, 68, 83, 10, 48, 51, 59, 60, 69, 75, 37, Rescue 10, Rehab 17, and the Sugar Land and Stafford Fire Departments.
