WHAT: High rise fire.
WHEN: January 3, 2023 at 10:31 p.m.
WHERE: 7600 W. Tidwell Rd. 77040.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $10,440,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $60,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (electrical failure, malfunction, other).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke on the third floor and found an extinguished fire in the mechanical room. An electrical bus appeared to have shorted out and caused a small fire which was controlled by a sprinkler head. Crews assisted with smoke removal on several floors and building maintenance person arrived and secured both the fire pump and main electricity to the building. The building maintenance person was advised to keep power off until inspected by an electrician. Firefighters from Stations 5, 28, 4, 38, 50, 62, 77 and 62 responded to this incident.
