HOUSTON - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 7800 Martin Luther King Boulevard at about 10:05 p.m. on Saturday (April 9).
The identity of the male pedestrian, 59, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer J. Baker reported:
The male driver of a white Ford Taurus was traveling southbound on Martin Luther King when he struck two males crossing the street not at a crosswalk. One pedestrian (victim) was pronounced dead at the scene. The second pedestrian was transported by HFD paramedics to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Taurus, who remained at the scene, was questioned and released.
A preliminary investigation determined the victims failed to yield the right-of-way while crossing the street.
The investigation is continuing.
