WHAT: Detached residential garage fire.
WHEN: July 8, 2024, at 7:32 p.m.
WHERE: 13800 block of Garden Creek Way, 77059.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $291,400 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $170,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental due to an electrical malfunction in or around a generator.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from a detached residential garage and made an attack on the fire. They cut open the overhead garage doors to gain access and conducted a primary search of the main residence. CenterPoint was requested to secure the utilities. The fire was controlled and fully extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. 32 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 23, 70, 71, 72, 93, 94, 29, 24 and 46.
