Composite Sketch in Fatal Shooting at 6600 Main Street

Houston police homicide detectives have released a composite sketch of the suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 6600 Main Street about 8:45 a.m. last Friday (July 20).

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, about 30 years old.  He was clean shaven and had a slender build.  The suspect was wearing a tan baseball cap, gray warm-up jacket and khaki shorts.  The composite sketch is attached to this news release.

The victim, Dr. Mark Hausknecht, 65, was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants S. Murdock, M. Miller and Detectives A. Barr and D. Stark reported:

Dr. Hausknecht was bicycling northbound on Main Street to his job in the Texas Medical Center when another bicyclist (suspect) approached him from behind and then fired two shots at Hausknecht while cycling past him.  Hausknecht was struck twice in the torso.  The suspect quickly pedaled his light colored mountain bike and turned west on Southgate Boulevard into a neighborhood.
