CITY OF HOUSTON MUNICIPAL COURTS SUSPENDS ALL TRIALS (JURY AND JUDGE), JURY DUTY, ARRAIGNMENTS, HEARINGS, AND PARKING ADJUDICATION HEARINGS TO PROMOTE SAFE DISTANCING IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

HOUSTON, Texas – In an effort to continue to encourage the health and safety of the public and court staff members from the spread of the COVID-19, the City of Houston Municipal Courts Department has suspended ALL JURY AND JUDGE TRIALS, JURY DUTY, ARRAIGNMENTS AND PARKING ADJUDICATION HEARINGS through Friday, May 1, 2020. The Court remains open for all other proceedings.

Members of the public should contact a health care provider and not come to court if they have recently traveled internationally, have come into contact with someone who has traveled abroad, or is experiencing symptoms similar to COVID-19. Once cleared by a physician, individuals may visit any City of Houston court location to speak with an Annex Judge to reset a case.  Please visit the Municipal Courts’ website at www.houstontx.gov/courts for continued updates on all court locations and hours of operation.

Resets will be given in person at all City of Houston court locations beginning Monday, May 4, 2020 through Friday, May 15, 2020 until 9 p.m. Please visit the Municipal Courts’ website at www.houstontx.gov/courts for information on all court locations and hours of operation.  It is important to note that if an individual fails to reset their case(s) when Municipal Court resumes operations, an arrest warrant may be issued.

Beginning, Wednesday, March 25, 2020 through Friday, May 1, 2020, there will be:

  • NO COURT PROCEEDINGS SCHEDULED. If you are a DEFENDANT scheduled for court during this period, you do not have to appear. You must reschedule your setting in person no later than Friday, May 15, 2020 until 9:00p.m., to receive a new court date. All court functions will resume on Monday, May 4, 2020 unless further notification is provided. It is important to note that if an individual fails to reset their case(s) during the reset period (5/4/2020 through 5/15/2020), an arrest warrant may be issued.
  • NO JURY DUTY. If you are a Juror and have been scheduled for jury duty, you do not have to appear during this period. You do not need to reschedule your Jury Service. Jury duty will resume Monday, May 4, 2020 unless further notification is provided.
  • NO PARKING ADJUDICATION HEARINGS. You may contest your parking citation online at https://houstonparking.t2hosted.com/app/index.aspx.

HOUSTON, Texas – En un esfuerzo por continuar alentando la salud y seguridad del público y de los miembros del personal de la corte de la difusión del COVID-19, las Cortes Municipales de la Ciudad de Houston ha suspendido TODOS LOS JUICIOS POR JURADO Y POR JUEZ, SERVICIO DE JURADO, LECTURA DE CARGOS INICIAL (ARRAIGNMENT), Y AUDIENCIAS DE ESTACIONAMIENTO hasta el Viernes, 1 de Mayo de 2020. Las Cortes permanecen abiertas a todos los demás procedimientos.

Los miembros del público deben ponerse en contacto con un proveedor de atención médica y no acudir a los tribunales si han viajado recientemente internacionalmente, han entrado en contacto con alguien que ha viajado al extranjero o están experimentando síntomas similares al COVID-19. Una vez aprobado por un médico, las personas pueden visitar cualquiera de nuestras Cortes Municipales de la Ciudad de Houston para hablar con un Juez Anexo para restablecer su caso. Usted debe reprogramar su audiencia en persona a más tardar el Viernes, 15 de Mayo de 2020 hasta las 9:00p.m., para recibir una nueva fecha de juicio o de comparecencia. Todas las funciones de la corte se reanudarán el 4 de Mayo, 2020, a menos que se proporcione más notificación. Es importante tener en cuenta que si un individuo falla de restablecer su caso durante del período de restablecimiento, se puede emitir una orden de aresto.
  • NINGÚN SERVICIO DE JURADO. Si es un Jurado y ha sido programado para Servicio de Jurado, no tiene que comparecer durante este período. No tiene que reprogramar su Servicio de Jurado. El Servicio de Jurado se reanudará el Lunes, 4 de Mayo, 2020 a menos que la notificación adicional sea proporcionada.
  • NINGÚN AUDIENCIA DE ESTACIONAMIENTO. Usted puede disputar su multa de estacionamiento en línea al https://houstonparking.t2hosted.com/app/index.aspx
