The animal shelter is featuring $5 and $1 Adoption Specials June 10 – 11
HOUSTON, TX – On Sunday, June 11, BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions will join numerous animal shelters and organizations across the U.S. for the national no kill “Just One Day” event. BARC will not euthanize any animals that can be saved. This is the sixth year in a row that BARC has participated in this event. To celebrate, BARC is hosting a $5 adoption event for dogs five months and older on Saturday, June 10 and $1 adoptions for dogs five months and older on Sunday, June 11. Cats and kittens are $1 through September and puppies are always $75.
“The ‘Just One Day’ event is a great day to engage Houstonians in the effort to save more lives,” said Ashtyn Rivet, BARC Deputy Assistant Director. “This is an opportunity to take part in something big. It’s a chance to come together to save animals’ lives in our community. Come and meet many animals at BARC that are looking for forever homes.”
BARC is currently facing extremely high intake numbers and the shelter doesn’t expect it to slow down any time soon. Since June 1, BARC has taken in 867 animals; an average of 173 animals each day the shelter has been open to the public for intake. If Houstonians are interested in adopting a pet, now is the time to adopt from BARC.
A huge thanks to Proler Southwest/Sims Metal Management for sponsoring this weekend’s adoption event. The adoption package includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a one-year City pet license and a pre-registered microchip with lifetime registration. View all BARC animals available for adoption and regular adoption fees on the “Adopt a Pet” page at www.HoustonBARC.com. If Houstonians are interested in helping but can’t permanently adopt a pet, BARC encourages them to become a foster pet parent or a volunteer.
“Just One Day” unites BARC with numerous other organizations across the nation who want to see every homeless pet find a home. According to the “Just One Day” website, more than 10,000 animals across the nation could be saved on June 11.

The national event is not just about putting a stop to euthanasia for a day. It’s also about placing shelter animals across Houston, and across the nation, into permanent homes. BARC encourages all Houstonians to get the word out about its participation in the “Just One Day” event and get others involved in the effort to save lives by telling their friends and colleagues about BARC’s adoption, foster, rescue, and volunteer programs.
BARC, located at 3300 Carr Street, Houston, 77026, is open for adoptions every day of the week from noon to 5:00 p.m.
