BARC Houston to Join Annual Mega Adoption Event, Oct 21-22, at George R Brown Convention Center

On October 21 and 22, 2023, at the George R. Brown Convention Center, BARC, the City of Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, will once again join public and private animal shelters from across the Houston-area and state at Petco Love’s third annual Mega Adoption Event. At this annual adoption event, more than 1,000 wonderful furry companions, including more than 100 BARC pets, will be looking for their forever home – including big dogs, small dogs, senior pets, puppies, cats, and kittens.

Adoption fees for all pets will be $35, and adopters will take their new family member home the same day. All participating BARC pets will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, registered with the city, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All animals will be available on the convention center floor, and meet-and-greet stations will be available for adopters and their potential future family member. A $75 “Fast Pass” is also available for purchase and allows early entry at 9 a.m. on Saturday only.

The first Mega Adoption event in Houston in 2019 placed 1,450 homeless pets with families in just two days. Mega events have saved thousands of lives in other cities across the country. Each one is truly a mega experience, with more than 1,000 homeless pets being chosen to join forever families. Plan to join the fun to find a furry companion, or if you have a full house, help spread the word to your family and friends. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
