WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: January 21, 2025, at 1:14 p.m.
WHERE: 5565 Gasmer Dr. 77035.
INJURIES: One civilian treated on scene, one civilian transported to the hospital.
PROPERTY SAVED: $80,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $80,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source (space heater).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from a first-floor apartment of a 2-story apartment building. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. Two residents were evaluated on scene by HFD EMS, one of which was transported to the hospital. The utilities were secured, and the fire was controlled and extinguished. A damaged space heater was found near an outlet and appeared to be the cause and origin of the fire. 35 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 48, 82, 2, 21, 59 and 24.
