WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: August 31, 2023, at 1:30 a.m.
WHERE: 11002 Hammerly Blvd. 77043.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $450,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $500,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation (appears to be accidental).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from two apartments and made an attack. They ventilated the building and contained the spread of the fire. The utilities were secured, and the structural integrity of the structure was evaluated. Crews extinguished the fire and requested HFD Arson investigators to determine the cause and origin. 31 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 77, 2, 5, 78, 49, 57, 24, Rehab 17 and the Village Fire Department.
