WHAT: Apartment fire.

INJURIES: A firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital.

CAUSE: Under investigation (appears to be accidental).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the first floor of a 2-story apartment building. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to locate the fire in the kitchen of a smoke-filled apartment unit. A primary search was conducted with no one found. Firefighters pulled the ceiling and sheetrock from the walls to check for extension with no extension noted and the fire was extinguished. Fans were used to ventilate the smoke from the apartments. CenterPoint arrived on scene and turned the power off to the building. A firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 39 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 2, 78, 83, 49, 57, 77, 78, 63, 67, and Heavy Rescue 11.
