WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: May 10, 2025, at 7:22 p.m.
WHERE: 1739 1/2 Wirt Rd. 77055.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene with heavy fire coming from several units of a 2-story apartment building. They made an offensive attack and the fire quickly grew. Crews switched to a defensive attack and an exterior wall collapsed and the balcony overhangs had weakened. Additional HFD units were requested and firefighters rotated until the fire was controlled.
The Houston Police Department was requested for traffic control and CenterPoint was notified. The American Red Cross was also notified to assist the residents. The smoldering material was completely extinguished, and the hazard area was taped off. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 60 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 38, 15, 4, 5, 2, 11, 13, 49, 50, 77, 6, 57 and Rescue 10.
