CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from a 2-story apartment building. They found a water heater on fire inside a utility closet and contained the fire to the pipe chase and wall extending to both floors. A primary search was completed, and the utilities were secured. The fire was extinguished and appeared to have been caused by an electrical issue with the water heater. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. 31 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 26, 46, 35, 55 and 24.
