CAUSE: Cause not available, originated in the kitchen.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find smoke and fire coming from the window of a first-floor apartment unit. They made an offensive attack and completed a primary search. The fire appeared to have started in the kitchen and spread to the living room. The utilities were secured, and the fire was extinguished. Crews pulled the ceiling in the kitchen and living room to check for extension. No extension was found. 35 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 28, 2, 83, 60, 69 and 57.
