WHAT: Apartment Fire.
WHEN: July 9, 2022 at 6:10 p.m.
WHERE: 7979 Westheimer, 77063
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $450,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $150,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (candle warmer).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find heavy smoke coming from a second floor apartment. The fire was found a bathroom. The sheetrock was pulled and a fire behind the wall was extinguished. Crews checked for extension and conducted a primary search. Several dogs were found and removed from the third floor to safety. Crews ventilated the smoke from the apartments, and it was determined that a candle warmer was the most likely cause. Firefighters from Stations 28, 83, 2, 51, 60, 69, 8 and 57 responded to this incident.
