CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find heavy smoke coming from a 2-story apartment building. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. With fire coming through the roof, additional units were requested. A defensive attack was initiated with an eminent roof collapse. Once the fire was controlled, crews switched back to an offensive attack and rotated until all hot spots were fully extinguished. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Firefighters from Stations 60, 83, 49, 69, 28, 2 and the Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
