WHAT: Apartment Fire

PROPERTY SAVED: $750,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $20,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (electrical failure, malfunction, other).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find smoke coming from the roof of a 2-story apartment building. Upon investigation, crews encountered heavier smoke and located the fire in a kitchen wall. They ventilated the area above the kitchen and the fire was controlled within about an hour. During the extinguishment efforts firefighters also checked for extension and completed searches of the unit and nearby units. Four apartments were directly affected by the fire and the American Red Cross was notified. Crews from Stations 62, 5, 67, 31, 2, 15, 11, 9, 30 and Rehab responded to this incident.
