ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: | Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke coming from a 2-story apartment building. The fire was found in the ceiling space where furnace was located and had extended into floor joist space and duct work. Crews extinguished the fire and contained it to the joist and walls of the one unit. About two hours prior, HFD responded to a small fire caused by an overheated or malfunctioning heating unit in the same apartment. It appeared this fire was caused by a possible rekindle from the earlier incident. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents. Crews from Stations 84, 64, 11, 31, 74, 30 and the Aldine Fire Department responded to this incident. |
