WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: April 12, 2023 at 2:42 a.m.
WHERE: W. Hardy Rd. at Greens, 77060.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.

DAMAGE: $600,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Careless fire practice.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the roof of a 2-story abandoned apartment building. They made an attack on the fire and conducted a primary search. The fire was extinguished and HFD Arson investigators to determine the cause and origin. Crews from Stations 64, 15, 34, 74, 84, 58, 30 and the Aldine Fire Department responded to this incident. HFD responded to the same location about six hours later, just after 8:30 a.m.
