DAMAGE: $300,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find fire and smoke coming from a 2-story apartment building with a report of people trapped. A primary search of the unit on fire was completed as crews made an offensive attack. A secondary search was completed of the entire building with no one found. Firefighters controlled and extinguished the fire that affected two units on the second floor and spread to the roof. A resident had failed to properly discard a cigarette which started the fire in a storage area. 49 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 4, 50, 5, 13, 67, 77, 57, Heavy Rescue 11 and Hazmat.
