CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the second floor of a 2-story apartment building. They made an offensive attack and completed a primary search. Crews extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading into the attic. A fan was used to remove the smoke from the unit and the American Red Cross was notified for the residents. The fire appeared to have originated around an extension cord charging a hand-held shop light. 36 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 51, 28, 68, 10, 73, 82, 73, 86 and 57.
