WHAT: Apartment fire.

WHERE: 9707 S. Gessner Rd. 77071.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $100,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $25,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (cooking).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes to find smoke coming from the second floor of an apartment building. They made a fast attack and checked for extension. A primary and secondary search were completed, and the fire was extinguished. The fire appeared to have been caused by cooking material left on the stove, causing a fire that spread to the cabinets and kitchen area. 37 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including crews from Stations 28, 68, 51, 73, 82 and Rescue 10.
