Apartment Fire in The Braeburn Area

WHAT: Apartment fire.

WHEN: May 13, 2025, at 5:21 p.m.

WHERE: 8901 Bissonnet St. 77074.

INJURIES: One civilian was transported to the hospital with a minor injury.

CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (unattended stove).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from a first-floor apartment unit. They made an attack on the fire and conducted a primary search. All the residents had safely made it outside. One civilian suffered from a minor injury and was transported to the hospital.  Crews controlled the utilities and checked for extension in the void spaces. The fire was extinguished and contained to the unit of origin with some damage to the awning to the first and second floors. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the family. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 39 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 73, 82, 2, 28, 68, 51, 73 and Rescue 10.
