Houston police are investigating the shooting of two men at 6000 West Sunforest Drive about 8:50 p.m. on Saturday (March 9).
The victims, Alex Ramos, 19, and Leocadio Aleman-Dubon, 44, were transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers C. Bowling and L. Kauffman reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and, after speaking with witnesses, determined a private property owner, a tow truck driver and his passenger were attempting to conduct a tow from the complex. The tow truck was surrounded by a group of people as the owner of the vehicle being towed attempted to get in his vehicle.
An unknown suspect, armed with a long rifle, approached and fired shots into the ground, around and under the tow truck. Messrs. Ramos and Aleman-Dubon were standing on the opposite side of the tow truck and were struck in the legs by the gunfire. The tow truck driver and passenger then lowered and “dropped” the vehicle.
As they drove off from the complex, they noticed the suspect running behind them with the rifle raised, as if to shoot again. The passenger, armed with a pistol, leaned out of his window and fired several shots at the suspect, however he was not struck. Both men in the tow truck returned to the scene when officers arrived and cooperated with the investigation.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
