The fatal shooting of a man found at 6309 Dumfries Drive about 6:10 p.m. on January 16 will be referred to a Harris County grand jury. .
The victim, George Washington, 21, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Moss and E. May reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Washington lying in front of a vacant business in a strip center. He had been shot at least once and was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital.
Further investigation and information obtained from community members, the Missouri City Police Department, The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office and the Fort Bend County Precinct 2 Constable's Office, identified the suspected shooter. HPD homicide investigators located the man and, after questioning him regarding his involvement, determined Washington attempted to rob him at gunpoint and was shot.
