HOUSTON, Texas – Houston Public Works is monitoring forecasts calling for the potential of substantial rainfall over the next few days. Moisture from Hurricane Willa off the Pacific Coast may drop several inches of rain in the Houston area. Houston Water is working with the Coastal Water Authority to slowly lower Lake Houston by 1 foot (to 41.5 feet). It takes 24-hours to lower the lake by 1 foot and the slow release began this morning.
Property owners need to make arrangements to secure boats and other items along the shoreline.
