Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 6345 Windswept Lane

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in  the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 6345 Windswept Lane about 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 19.

The suspect, Fernando De-La-Paz, 20, is charged with capital murder in the 495th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of De-La-Paz is attached to the news release.

The victim is identified as Erik Delgadillo, 21.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Clark and Detective K. Clark reported:

Officers responded to a report of an alarm at the above address and upon arrival found multiple shell casings as well as a blood in the parking lot.  While investigating the scene, officers were notified a male with a gunshot wound had been transported to an area hospital by private vehicle. The male was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Further investigation revealed the male was discovered by family members in the parking lot at the above address when they arrived to pick him up. Family members described hearing several gunshots when they entered the parking lot and observed a group of Hispanic male suspects fleeing the location on foot with the victim’s belongings.

Investigators identified Fernando De-La-Paz as the suspect in this shooting. On Thursday (Oct. 8), De-La-Paz was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged for his role in this fatal shooting and booked into the Harris County jail.
